214° Shifted

Pendant, 2026

Silver, red agate, rock crystal, found object, leather

The piece '214° Shifted' is part of a series of absurd kinetic objects that explore perception. Crafted from silver, red agate, and rock crystal, the first piece takes inspiration from the design language of callipers, yet challenges the notion of precise measurement.
Using two movable turntables, the apparatus refracts incoming light to create unpredictable images, where fixed contours blur to reveal flowing fragments. The viewer's eye becomes the active element, piecing the fragments together to form a whole. This mechanism symbolises consciousness: a continuous structure of moments in which an independent reality emerges through the interplay of light, space and form. Thus, the apparatus makes it possible to experience the complexity of vision, which only forms a whole when all its parts are considered together.
